Northfield & District League Pull Out Of Representative Game
The Annual
Representative Game between Heart of England and Northfield & District due
to be held on 20th September has been unilaterally cancelled by the
Northfield League without any prior warning or discussion.
When questioned
on the decision by Chairman Chris Smith, Northfield Secretary Dave Hibberd
said they have had many players pull out due to travelling to Blackpool and
I am not prepared to play a weakened side.
Chris Smith
questioned whether this was in the spirit in which the match was inaugurated
but Dave Hibberd was unrepentant.
League Chairman
Chris Smith says "it appears that Mr Hibberd's desire to win, what was
a trophy brought about to promote friendly relations between our two
leagues, overtook the spirit in which the game was to be played. I think
this shows disrespect for players in his own league whom he does not
consider worthy to represent his League and those of the Heart of England
who had kindly agreed to play for our league in a trophy put up to
commemorate a past President of Northfield"

correct way in which to promote the game of bowls in our area? Do you play
